The process is further complicated by sales gimmicks which promise drastic results in a quick time at low prices.

When evaluating your program options there are certain things that you do and don’t want to choose.
Remember: choose a weight loss program wisely and the weight loss program will give you the tools and encouragement you need to achieve your weight loss goals.

However, your ultimate success will be due to your efforts, your discipline, and your hard work.

Now, for the do's and don'ts of choosing a weight loss program:

  • Employs professionals from a variety of fields- doctors, dietitians, physiologists, psychologists
  • You can drop out of without penalty
  • Allows you to learn about other people’s experiences in the program
  • Uses a diet you feel you can realistically follow
  • You believe you can be successful in

  • Provides ample information about the program prior to joining
  • Is honest about both the benefits and risks of the program
  • Has staff members you feel comfortable with

DON’T choose a program that…

  • Asks you to eliminate any foods entirely without providing proper supplements for the nutrients they provide
  • Recommends that you lose more than an average of 2 pounds per week
  • Asks women to consume less than 1200 calories per day and men to consume less than 1500 calories per day
  • Uses magical claims
  • Uses high pressure sales tactics
  • Is high risk
  • Will not fit your lifestyle
  • Makes you pay up front and does not offer refunds
  • Makes you sign a contract
  • Guarantees weight loss
  • Cannot provide information about the maintenance rate of their clients
  • Your doctor does not support you joining
  • Makes you feel uncomfortable for any reason
A weight loss program is a great starting point to help you lose weight, but your ultimate success is up to you!
